Tidecards is a flashcard website at tidecards.com. This page says what it collects and what happens to it. In short: only what’s needed for Tidecards to work, kept for your account, never sold, and no ads or tracking.

What we collect

Your account

Your email address and a hashed password (never the password itself). The email is used to sign you in, to confirm it’s yours and to reset your password.

Your learning data

The decks you study, each answer you give (when, and whether you remembered), the scheduling state of each card, and your study settings.

Your decks

Decks you make, with their cards and any pictures you upload to them. Your decks are private to your account and never shown to other users.

Technical data

Your IP address is used, only in the server’s memory and only for a short time, to limit repeated sign-in, sign-up and password-reset attempts. It isn’t saved with your account.

Who else sees it

  • Cloudflare: the site is served through Cloudflare, which protects it from attacks and so sees each request, including your IP address, as it passes through.
  • Our hosting provider runs the server the site and its database are on.
  • Our email provider delivers the emails we send you (confirming your address, password resets).
  • Our backup storage provider keeps copies of the database, so it isn’t lost if a server fails.

That’s all. We don’t sell your data, share it with advertisers, show ads, or use analytics or tracking scripts. We only give data to others if the law requires it.

Cookies and storage

The only cookies are the one that keeps you signed in, one for your light or dark theme, and a few that remember where you are in your reviews. None of them track you.

Keeping and deleting it

Your data is kept while you have an account. On the Account page (in the account menu) you can download all of it at any time. You can also delete your account there. Everything in it is deleted straight away, and it leaves our backups within five weeks as they’re replaced. If you can’t sign in, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and we’ll delete it for you.

Your rights

You can see and change your decks and settings in the app, and download or delete everything on the Account page. To change your email address, or for anything else, such as asking what we hold about you or objecting to how it’s used, email us. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU or UK), you can also complain to your data protection authority.

We use your data because it’s needed to provide the service you signed up for, and, for limiting sign-in attempts, because of our legitimate interest in keeping Tidecards secure.

Children

Tidecards isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date. For significant changes we’ll also let you know by email or on the site.
